Pittsburgh Stagehands Strike

Union stagehands in Pittsburgh has authorized a strike after unanimously turning down a one-year contract from Pittsburgh Steelers Sports Inc., which manages Heinz Field.

Two major complaints of the contract proposal from Local 3 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees include a pay cut of 25-30 percent for union members with fewer than 1,500 hours experience and no overtime pay for Sunday work, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Union officials told the paper these conditions would be contrary to all other Local 3 contracts.

Despite the strike, Bon Jovi‘s July 23rd concert during the Steelers’ world championship celebration at Heinz Field still went on.
