Miami PAC Renamed

The new Miami Performing Arts Center has been named Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in recognition of a $20 million gift from global cruise line company Carnival Corporation.

Carnival’s gift is the largest to date for the Cesar Pelli-designed center, which has grand opening festivities scheduled for October 5-8.

“The Carnival organization has always been and continues to be enormously passionate about South Florida and fostering the arts within our community,” said Carnival Corporation VP/COO Howard Frank in a statement. “This is a proud and rewarding occasion for our company and our employees.”

The PAC houses the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall – recently renamed named in appreciation for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s $10 million grant – as well as the 2,400-seat Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, a 200-seat black box studio theatre and an education center.

Gloria Estefan, Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera and New World Symphony are a just a few of the acts set to open the facility.
