Peas For Freedom
The Peas will perform July 31 in Bangkok, Thailand, and will dedicate a number of songs to the imprisoned leader.
“With the aid of uncensored satellite technology, this will be only the second time the Burmese people will be able to watch part of an international music concert in which musicians speak about Aung San Suu Kyi,” organizers said in a press release.
The Freedom Campaign is a worldwide partnership between the Human Rights Action Center and the U.S. Campaign for Burma. The organizations are working to build awareness of Aung Saan Suu Kyi’s plight, particularly within her own censorship-heavy country, through a series of concerts and other events.
“It’s our responsibility as humans to stand up against tyranny and see to it that voices like hers lead people out of oppression,” Freedom Campaign founder Jack Healey said. “The Freedom Campaign’s goal is to do just that.”
