Not All Bad For IAC

Barry Diller’s multifaceted IAC/InterActiveCorp might want to keep the ticketing division even if other parts of the company ever get hived off.

IAC reported a 91 percent drop in net income in the second quarter. Diller’s corporation includes Expedia, the Home Shopping Network, Match.com, LendingTree and about 60 other brands; overall, IAC is struggling.

One of its bright spots, though, is Ticketmaster and the other units of its ticketing sales division, where operating profit rose 21 percent to $80.9 million. Sales rose 20 percent to $533 million.
