Stabbing Death Near House of Blues

An altercation on the street in front of the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles August 2nd resulted in two people getting stabbed and one person injured. One man has died from his injuries after being transported to a hospital.

The melee took place after an altercation inside the club during a show by psychobilly band The Meteors. Bouncers ejected the unruly patrons, and police were still investigating at press time if they were involved with the fight on Olive avenue, HoB spokesman Jack Gannon told Pollstar.

“We had all of our security procedures in place, including wands and metal detectors, so all patrons and artists went through the (security) process before entering the music hall,” Gannon said. “There were no weapons in the music hall. … A couple of reports said the stabbing took place in our parking lot but it actually took place off-property.”

At least 12 people at the scene were questioned by sheriff’s deputies.

All three of the victims were in their 20s, according to the local NBC television affiliate. The sheriff’s department said one victim suffered from “blunt force trauma.” The second stabbing victim was treated at a hospital and is expected to survive.

Witnesses reportedly called the scene “pandemonium.”
