Arthur Lee Dies

Love frontman Arthur Lee, 61, died from leukemia in a Memphis hospital August 3rd.

Love is considered one of the most influential groups of the ‘60s. In fact, some claim the hippie movement started when the multiracial Love began playing a regular rotation at famed Los Angeles nightclub Whisky a Go Go.

Lee tried to reform the band with new musicians in the 1980s with little success.

He was jailed in 1996 for illegal possession of a firearm after threatening a neighbor and released in 2001. He formed Love with Arthur Lee at that time and toured, this time with success.
