Showbox Roof Damaged

A faulty air conditioning unit sparked a small blaze at the 1,148-capacity Showbox Showroom & Lounge in Seattle August 7th, but the incident didn’t affect any concerts on the books.

Firefighters were called to the venue at about 5 a.m. on a report of smoke coming from the roof. They were able to put out the flames shortly after.

Showbox booker Chad Queirolo told Pollstar the fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the building and its contents.

“The smoke and water damage has been taken care of. We had some electrical cabling that melted and we replaced that,” he said. “We also had to bring in a new monitor board so we could work through our old one because there’s some crackles and pops.

“The whole Showbox staff has been great and Carlson Audio Systems lent us gear to keep us afloat.”

Queirolo said current staff and others pitched in so the facility was ready for an August 9th show featuring Peaches & Herms and Eagles of Death Metal.
