Goths Bask In The Sunshine

Although most of the crowd seems to contain people who only come out on the darkest of nights, the M’Era Luna Festival in Hildesheim, Germany, was treated to the sight of more than 20,000 goths basking in bright sunshine.

FKP Scorpio reports that the crowd was on the high side of average for an event that’s only taken seven years to establish itself as Europe’s largest dedicated goth festival.

Among those bringing doom and gloom to an otherwise sunny weekend August 12-13 were Bauhaus, Within Temptation, Nitzer Ebb, Ministry, Frontline Assembly, and the less-imaginatively named Gothminster.

Scorpio chief Folkert Koopmans also just launched a new record label called 7Hz Recordings, a joint venture to extend Barry Campbell’s London label of the same name.

The first release was scheduled to be a single called “Run, Run, Run” from New Zealand’s Goldenhorse. The band’s eponymous debut album, which spent 70 weeks in the national charts, is due September 7th.

Label manager is Sven Buhrmester, previously with East West Records and Germany’s JKP.
