Krauss Tops Bluegrass Noms

Nominees for the annual International Bluegrass Music Association awards were announced August 15th, with Alison Krauss & V & topping the list once again.

Krauss and her band are up in 11 categories, including instrumental group and vocal group of the year. Several band members are nominated for individual awards, including female vocalist and male vocalist for Krauss and Dan Tyminski, respectively.

Blue Highway is close behind with 10 nods. Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder are nominated for seven awards each.

Other acts up for awards include 2005 entertainer of the year Cherryholmes, with five nominations, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage with six, The Del McCoury Band with four, and The Grascals.

Entertainer of the year nominations are Cherryholmes, The Grascals, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, and The Del McCoury Band – which has won this award nine times.

Emerging artist noms are 3 Fox Drive, Audie Blaylock & Redline, Blue Moon Rising, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, and The Steep Canyon Rangers.

Lawson and Vincent announced the nominations at Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame. The awards show is set to take place September 28th at the city’s Grand Ole Opry House with host Marty Stuart.
