Culture Leader Dies
Joseph Hill, lead singer and songwriter of Jamaican reggae group Culture, died in Berlin August 19 of unknown causes.
According to Hill’s daughter, Andrea, the 57-year-old musician suddenly fell ill in the middle of the group’s European tour.
The band plans to continue its tour with Hill’s son, Kenyatta, taking his place, a representative for booking agency Fast Lane International told Pollstar.
Joseph Hill founded Culture in 1976, recording more than 30 albums in the following decades. He was recently inducted into the Jamaican Reggae Walk of Fame and was given a 2005 Independence Award by Jamaica’s prime minister.
