The band, led by identical twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden, announced Tuesday that it would be going back out on the road in September.

The 21-city tour, which launches September 27 at the Fillmore in San Francisco, will support the still-untitled new album.

On its Web site, described as “a temporary site we are using between albums,” Good Charlotte told fans the tour was designed to take the group back to its roots.

“We wanted to get back to you and play some of our favorite clubs that we use to play when we first started out so these shows will be really up close and personal,” the group said.

Up-and-coming power pop band The Pink Spiders will provide support for the tour, along with another act that Good Charlotte promised to announce later this week.
