The group, which does breezy bossa nova covers of early ‘80s classics, has announced a 13-city North American tour in support of their recently released album “Bande a Part.”

The tour launches September 5 at the Plaza Club in Vancouver, BC, and finishes September 23 with a show at Miami’s Studio A.

Opening duties on the tour will be handled by LA indie pop duo The Submarines, who are also supporting a sophomore release.

Nouvelle Vague (which is French for new wave and isbossa nova in Portugese), is the brain-child of musicians Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux.

Collin and Libaux’s initial concept for the group was to abandon the punk or new wave history of their favorite ‘80s tracks, strip them down to their basic structure, and then record them using young singers who had never heard the original recordings.

The result is a strangely refreshing collection of songs that still manage to feel like old friends.
