Guitar Theft Spells Probation

Two men have been sentenced to probation for stealing guitars from one of their employers, Paul Reed Smith Guitars.

Jeffrey Lanahan worked at PRS for eight years before leaving in 2004, and delivered guitars to several big-name clients.

He pleaded guilty to stealing at least a dozen instruments and giving them to Michael Kelly, who passed them along to another man who sold them on eBay.

Lanahan was sentenced to three months of house arrest and five years probation, and Kelly was sentenced to three years probation.

Some of the guitars were once used by Faith Hill and Nickelback, and Lanahan’s clients included U2 and Jimmy Buffett.
