Coke Gets First Call On Sugababes

There could be some red faces in TakTak’s marketing department as the Polish mobile phone company has spent the summer running ads inadvertently plugging a festival that is a major rival to one it sponsors.

TakTak, which puts up money for Warsaw’s Summer of Music Festival (September 9-10), has been featuring Sugababes on a massive billboard and TV ad campaign that’s lasted weeks. But it turns out the U.K. girlies are headlining Krakow’s Coke Live Festival over the same weekend.

The final figures aren’t through but, going into the weekend, they weren’t looking good for TakTak.

Its Summer of Music, which had a bill that included Pet Shop Boys, Daft Punk, Mercury Rev, Maximo Park, Stereo MC’s, and Ian Brown, had barely shifted 2,000 tickets at press time.

Having Sugababes in their faces all summer, it seems the young fans are all off to Krakow to see the girls headline a Coke-sponsored bash alongside Jay-Z and Shaggy. Ticket sales are believed to be edging toward 8,000.
