Club Majestic For Sale

The recently troubled Club Majestic in Madison, Wis., is up for sale.

The Shiavo family that owns the building is asking $1.6 million for the venue, which has been under scrutiny by the city because of rowdy incidents at the club, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

The family purchased what was then called the Majestic Theater in 2002 and turned it into a nightclub.

The club was first linked to violence about two years ago following a stabbing, gunshots and multiple fights at the club, the Journal said.

Police imposed restrictions on the liquor license September 15th, including reducing the club’s capacity, keeping a uniformed bouncer at the door per every 30 patrons, banning the sale of alcohol in glass bottles and ending live entertainment an hour before closing time, the paper reported. The Schiavos filed an appeal September 18th.

Artists scheduled to play the club include Veruca Salt, Everclear, Gin Blossoms, Marty Stuart and The Black Keys.
