The 13-date U.K. segment of the tour opened with a September 26 performance at The Sage in Gateshead, U.K., and will finish off with a flourish on Halloween at London’s Roundhouse.

Although she had already booked New York indie-rockers Nemo for support in the U.K., Heap decided to use the opening spot to provide a little high profile exposure for some unknown U.K. artists. She picked 13 winners from entries submitted by U.K. acts to her MySpace page to join her on the tour.

Heap will kick off the 28 dates on the North American leg of the tour November 7 in Montreal, and will wrap things up December 19 at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. Opening duties in North America will be handled by Magnet, a one man alt-folk act comprising Norwegian troubadour Evan Johansen.

Although Speak for Yourself was officially released in July 2005 in the U.K. on Heap’s own Megaphonic Records, and on Sony BMG’s RCA Victor label in the U.S. in November 2005, Heap signed a new deal with Sony BMG in early 2006.

The album was re-released on Sony’s brand new White Rabbit imprint in April accompanied by a full promotional push.

The deal allowed Heap to benefit from the strength of a major label promotion campaign while still retaining sole creative control. The re-launch has resulted in two successful singles, with a third, “Headlock,” scheduled for release October 16.
