Third Quarter YTD Charts
The North American concert business is once again on pace to break the industry’s all-time gross revenue record from last year’s $3.1 billion. The same will likely not hold true for unit ticket sales.
Pollstar has detailed box office reports of $2.355 billion in the database for the first nine months of 2006. That number will only get higher as the year progresses. The current total is already $31 million higher than the final number of $2.324 billion for the same period in 2005.
There were 51.1 million tickets reported sold through the first three quarters of the year. That is down 4.2 million tickets from 2005’s final number of 55.3 million tickets sold in North America.
In line with the trend of recent years, the industry continues to post record revenues from an apparently shrinking customer base.
