Carrington Abernethy (formerly Carrington Beck), the former senior director of booking for Live Nation – Motor Sports, has been named general manager of Chicago’s House of Hope entertainment complex, a 10,000-capacity arena that is home to the Salem Baptist Church.

The venue is managed by International Facilities Group. Abernethy’s duties include operating the arena as well as booking, programming and marketing the facility.

The $50 million facility will not be multipurpose in the traditional sense, but officials are open to booking events of all types.

“The prime tenant is the Salem Baptist Church and we’re looking to do other family-type events,” Abernethy told Pollstar. “We’ll still be passing things by [Salem officials] to make sure we’re sending off the right image as the House of Hope but we’re completely independent. Sports, family, music – we’ll look at anything.”

Patti LaBelle with Mary Mary and Yolanda Adams are scheduled to perform October 28th.

House of Hope also hosts the Chicago Bulls camp in the summer as well as meetings, conventions, trade shows and other events.
