The Furnaces – brother/sister duo Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger – have promised to play much of their latest LP, Bitter Tea, with help from Sebadoh alum Jason Loewenstein on guitar, Bob D’Amico on drums and Matthew Goodman on percussion.

The itinerary focuses on the East Coast and South, although the Furnaces will make a quick trip to Los Angeles October 22 for an appearance at the Arthur Festival. The trek will finish with four shows in Texas, including a two-night stand at Emo’s in Austin.

“The songs are all arranged in some sort of tropical fashion in an effort to argue, ineffectually, with the falling leaves,” Matthew Friedberger said in a post on the Fiery Furnaces’ official Web site. “All of the Bitter Tea songs (except two) are being played as one long song lasting 30 minutes.”

Deerhoof will drop off the trek after November 1, heading for the U.K. with The Flaming Lips later that week.
