GM Center For Ontario

General Motors Canada has secured the naming rights to a new arena in Oshawa, Ontario, in a deal that will net the city a reported $1.65 million over the next 10 years.

The agreement was finalized in an October 5th announcement, although details were not unveiled until a letter from facility manager Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment’s Bob Hunter to City Manager Bob Duignan was obtained by Oshawa This Week.

In the letter, Hunter outlined a 10-year term, during which GM will pay $75,000 annually for the first five years and $80,000 annually thereafter. Also, “indirect financial benefits” will include a total of $872,000 for advertising inventory, suite licensing and rental incomes, the paper reported.
