Scissor Sisters Head East

It’s been a killer year for the Scissor Sisters. They were all over the summer festival circuit, burned through a successful North American tour, released a well received new album, pulled off a U.K. arena tour, and managed to piss off a major U.S. music retailer.

Not bad for a band that was playing gay clubs with taped accompaniment from a boom box five years ago.

So what’s next? After a quick stop in San Francisco December 6 to co-headline the invitation-only Alice in Winterland radio party at Bimbo’s 365 Club, the band will head to Japan and Australia.

The Japanese leg of the tour kicks off January 26 at Zepp in Tokyo, followed by dates in Yokohama, Nagoya and Osaka. The Scissors swing through Australia starts with a February 1 show in Newcastle, and will take the band to Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and finally to Melbourne February 9.
