Doherty Fined & Banned From Driving

Pete Doherty was fined for five counts of possessing drugs and banned from driving at a December 4th appearance at London’s Thames Magistrates Court.

The 27-year-old Babyshambles frontman, who’s been under treatment for his addiction, was ordered to pay £770 and disqualified from driving for four months.

The singer, who pleaded guilty at an earlier trial, hugged fans outside the court and told reporters he was relieved that he hadn’t been sent to jail.

District Judge Jane McIvor told Doherty that the offenses were not serious enough to require a custodial sentence.

Doherty was arrested in April for possession of less than 2 grams each of heroin, cannabis and cocaine, which were all found in the car he was driving.

It happened just three hours after he was sentenced to two years of community service for previous drug offenses.

He was fined £750 in October for assaulting BBC Radio 1 reporter Trudi Barber.
