Richards To Apologize Again

Michael Richards, who played Kramer on “Seinfeld,” will likely offer yet another apology for the racial tirade he launched from a West Hollywood, Calif., comedy club November 17th – but this time he’ll meet with the four black men he targeted during that rant.

A spokesman for Richards said in a statement that the actor would like to apologize in person to the men for his outburst at the Laugh Factory. They are expected to meet in the presence of a retired judge, who will mediate.

The judge may also make recommendations as to further actions Richards should take to amend the situation, which could include the payment of a cash settlement.

Three of the four men – Kyle Doss, Frank McBride and Patrick McLucas – and lawyer Gloria Allred announced December 1st that the meeting with Richards will take place after the beginning of the year.

“We look forward to sitting down face-to-face with Mr. Richards and we thank him for this positive step,” Doss said.

Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, however, told the Los Angeles Times he was upset that the men could make money from the incident, describing them as “opportunists.”

Masada said many people in the club that evening were offended and that he has offered to bring back the night’s audience to meet with Richards so that he could apologize in person and explain himself, according to the Times.

Richards has offered previous public apologies on the “Late Show With David Letterman” and the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s “Keep Hope Alive” radio program.
