Homebake: Rain, Drug Arrests, Gatecrashers

Homebake, the first of NSW’s summer festivals, had everything: 41 bands across four stages, heavy rain, 48 arrests, and a security-foiling, would-be gatecrasher who tried to scale the fences.

The day (December 2nd) was headlined by Silverchair, The Vines, Hilltop Hoods, Eskimo Joe, You Am I, Something For Kate, Youth Group, ABBA tribute band Bjorn Again and actress Toni Collette’s festival debut with her band The Finish, which received a positive response from the 20,000-strong crowd.

The whisper backstage was that with Homebake selling out in three hours in August, promoter Joe Seg might take the festival to other cities.
