Sandcastle Woos Chevrolet Amphitheatre

The owners of Pittsburgh’s Sandcastle Waterpark announced December 21st that they’re negotiating with Live Nation to move the Chevrolet Amphitheatre.

"Hopefully, we’ll be able to say something more formal after the first of the year, but, yes, we are in negotiations with the operators of the Chevrolet Amphitheatre to move it to the area near the entrance to our water park," Sandcastle spokeswoman Mary Lou Rosemeyer told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

If the negotiations are successful, the Chevrolet Amphitheatre would reopen in the space along the Monongahela River formerly occupied by Sandcastle’s Riverplex Amphitheatre, which hasn’t been utilized for several years.

Live Nation, which operates the amphitheatre in its current Station Square location, declined to comment on the Tribune-Review’s reports about the negotiations. LN would not explain why the company was interested in the move, but the real estate in the area has definitely been climbing.
