Del Reeves Dies

Grand Ole Opry staple Del Reeves, 74, died in Nashville January 1st after an extended illness.

Reeves had a No. 1 hit on the country charts in 1965 with "Girl on the Billboard," but spent most of the subsequent 40 years at the Opry, where he regaled visitors with jokes and celebrity imitations as well as music.

In the early ’90s, Reeves helped Billy Ray Cyrus get signed but the two ended up in court with Reeves suing for damages. The lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed sum.
