Dead But Not Buried

James Brown remained unburied at press time, more than two weeks after his death.

Brown’s attorneys, trustees for his estate and his children were trying to resolve several issues surrounding his estate including where he would be interred. His body was being kept under guard in a sealed casket in a temperature-controlled room in his home on South Carolina’s Beech Island.

Brown attorney Buddy Dallas said Brown’s will has yet to be filed. Dallas added that Brown’s home has been locked since hours after his death to protect its contents.
