Vegas Football Classic Canceled

The Las Vegas All-American Classic college football game at Sam Boyd Stadium was canceled because of sponsorship and financing problems just a week before it was to be played.

The game was set for January 15th and to be broadcast on the NFL Network television station.

"When we signed our television contract we lost the ability to work with the convention and tourism side of Las Vegas and any of the casinos. That left sponsorship holes that we could not fill," game director Darry Alton said.

The All-American Classic, which is an East versus West all-star exhibition game, has been played five times and serves as a showcase for about 100 draft-eligible college players.
