Jazz Disk Awards Announced
Japan’s Jazz Disk Awards, sponsored by the monthly music magazine Swing Journal and given to CDs released by Japanese labels, announced its 2006 winners January 12th.
The Gold Prize, selected by a panel of jazz and audio writers, went to Super Trio by Chick Corea, Steve Gadd and Christian McBride, which was released exclusively by the Japanese arm of Universal Music.
The runner-up Silver Award went to Richie Beirach’s Manhattan Reverie, released by the small Tokuma label.
The Japan Jazz Award went to singer Keiko Lee, who released an album with American pianist Hank Jones.
