The band first heads to the Crans Montana ski resort in Switzerland for the Caprises Festival March 8. Weird, huh?

Next up is a gig at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, March 17.

The tour revs up April 7 with a show at the Orpheum in Boston. Dates in New York City, Detroit, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle follow.

The April 13 tour date at Detroit’s Fox Theatre will be The Stooges first concert in the Motor City – where they first became a sensation – in more than 30 years.

The band played at DTE Energy Music Theatre in nearby Clarkston in 2003, but that’s just not the same.

The tour comes in support of The Weirdness, which is due March 20.

The album is the first studio effort since 1973’s Raw Power, and was recorded with original members Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Asheton.

A somewhat younger punk rock legend, Mike Watt (Minutemen, Firehose) rounded out the lineup. No word yet as to who will play bass on the tour.
