First up is a swing through South America that kicks off March 14 at Claro Hall in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and wraps up March 25 in Santiago, Chile.

Next the band will head downunder to play six dates including two full sets at Virgin’s The Best of V Festival: April 3 in Melbourne and April 4 in Adelaide.

Then it’s on to Europe at the end of April for a 16-city tour that includes stops in Norway, The Baltic States, Germany, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands.

An announcement regarding a series of U.K. dates that will follow the European tour is expected in the near future.

Fundamental is Pet Shop Boys’ ninth traditional album release. Since 1986, the duo has also released two greatest hits collections, several remix albums, a collection of b-sides, a cast recording of their West-End musical “Closer to Heaven,” a symphonic score for the film “Battleship Potemkin” and, most recently, a live album recorded last May with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The duo was nominated for two Grammy Awards this year – Best Dance Recording (“I’m With Stupid”) and Best Electronic/Dance Album (Fundamental).

The band’s 2006 North American tour garnered critical and popular success, selling out a number of venues across the country including New York’s Radio City Music Hall, the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach, Fla., and a pair of shows at The Wiltern in L.A.
