The annual hip-hop extravaganza will take place on the East Coast for the first time with a July 28 event at Randall’s Island in New York. It will also return to Southern and Northern California with dates set for August 11 at NOS Events Center in San Bernadino and August 18 in San Francisco (venue TBA).

The complete Rock The Bells lineup is to be announced March 26.

“It’s a tremendous honor to have Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan perform together,” said Chang Weisberg of Guerrilla Union, which has presented the festival since its inception in 2003.

“I can’t wait to announce the rest of the lineup for Rock the Bells. It’s incredibly important to put some shine on quality hip-hop. The opportunity to galvanize the social and political consciousness of these groups is undeniable.”

Rock The Bells began in Southern California and expanded to two cities last year with acts including Wu-Tang Clan, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, De La Soul and more.

Organizers also took a scaled-down version of the event on the road last fall as a 22-city club tour.
