Acres Of Space To Rock And Wave

The owners of the country’s Rockwave Festival have tripled the size of the Terra Vibe Park site by either buying or renting another 30 acres of adjoining land.

Di Di Music president Nik Loris said the extra space will help the venue’s operational expansion, enabling it to stage a wider range of live shows, sports meetings and corporate events.

He said it’s quite possible that future Rockwaves will use some of the space to accommodate another stage.

Part of the 30 acres of land surrounding the 15-acre Terra Vibe Park, which Di Di acquired in 2004, has been bought and the remainder secured on a 20-year lease.

Rockwave has staged such acts as Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Franz Ferdinand, Guns N’ Roses, R.E.M., Oasis, Moby, Muse, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Blur, Queens of the Stone Age, Patti Smith and Mercury Rev during the course of its 11-year history.

Among the acts confirmed for this year’s Rockwave (July 1-3) are Metallica, Heaven And Hell, Dream Theatre, Iced Earth, Anathema, and Kinetic.
