You Can Bet On This One
Following in the footsteps of The Rolling Stones, whose sold-out show last September at Churchill Downs moved nearly 41,000 tickets and grossed more than $5 million, The Police have announced that they will also play the famed Louisville, Ky., racetrack.
The band will perform under the track’s famed twin spires on July 14. Joining them at the Downs, as well as on the rest of the North American leg of the tour, will be Fiction Plane, whose frontman, Joe Sumner, is Sting‘s eldest son.
Tickets for the show go on sale March 26 through Ticketmaster, with prices ranging from $50 to $225, with a six ticket limit per customer. Tickets will not be available through Churchill Downs.
The stage set-up for The Police show will be the same as the one used for The Stones, with approximately 35,000 seats available in portions of the track’s grandstand and clubhouse areas, as well as limited seating around the concert stage, which will be positioned on the infield, facing the grandstand.
