Richards’ Snort Joke
Keith Richards’ manager has told MTV.com that the Rolling Stones guitarist was just joking when he told a British magazine that he snorted the ashes of his late father mixed with cocaine.
Richards’ father, Bert, died in 2002 and was cremated.
He’s quoted in the British music magazine NME as saying he couldn’t resist “grinding him up with a little bit of blow.”
He said his dad would not have cared, and that it “went down pretty well.”
In an e-mail to the website, Jane Rose said the comments were made “in jest,” adding she “can’t believe anyone took (them) seriously.”
The 63-year-old Richards is, of course, one of rock’s legendary wild men.
He also told the magazine that his survival was the result of luck, and he advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.
