Eminem To Buy ‘8 Mile’ Venue?
Eminem is reportedly negotiating with Live Nation to buy Detroit’s St. Andrews Hall, the venue featured in the movie "8 Mile," but neither side was confirming the deal at press time.
As part of the proposal the 860-capacity concert facility, which houses a smaller club called The Shelter in its basement, would be managed by the rapper and his manager, Paul Rosenberg, but Live Nation would own the property and retain booking rights, sources told the Detroit Free Press.
Live Nation spokesman John Vlautin told Pollstar the company had no comment.
Along with filming some of the scenes from "8 Mile" at St. Andrews, Eminem performed there during the movie’s DVD release party in 2003, the paper said.
The hall continues to host up-and-coming acts as well as rock and hip-hop acts. Concerts on the books through mid-June include Plain White T’s, Paramore, Electric Six, Billy Talent, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Curd, Tooth & Nail Tour, Fountains of Wayne, and Manu Chao.
