Sillerman Revives Elvis
For a special charitable episode of "American Idol," producers promised a historic duet between two of the biggest pop stars of the 20th century.
Turns out, it was a duet between Celine Dion and a holographic image of Elvis Presley. While most pondered how it was done, few pointed out that Presley’s image and likeness is owned by the same parent company that owns "Idol," – Bob Sillerman’s CKX.
Sillerman has promised his company would re-brand Presley in fresh and exciting formats and this was definitely an example of that. A CKX spokesman confirmed to Pollstar that the Presley appearance indeed falls in line with the company’s strategy.
