Lee Magid Dies

Lee Magid, 80, a music producer and manager who worked with Della Reese for more than 60 years, died March 31st in Los Angeles.

Magid worked in A&R for National Records where he began producing for Joe Turner and others, according to Variety.

He moved to the Savoy label where he produced and promoted records for artists The Wanderers, Johnny Otis and Little Esther.

He met Della Reese and launched her career in the early 1950s and later managed and booked dates for Lou Rawls, Earl Grant and Sam Fletcher.
