Dubai Lands Universal Park

A United Arab Emirates developer will build a $2.2 billion Universal theme park in the Middle Eastern financial and tourism hub of Dubai, under a licensing agreement with NBC Universal Inc.

The park, dubbed Universal City Dubailand by developer Tatweer, is expected to open in 2010 and span nearly 7 million square feet and include some 4,000 luxury hotel rooms and 100 restaurants, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The park will be the centerpiece of the $64 billion Dubailand tourism complex.
