Blur Drummer Takes A Beating

Blur drummer Dave Rowntree’s bid to become a politician petered out when he failed to win a seat on Westminster Council.

Standing as a candidate for Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Labour Party, he failed to drum up as much support as his Conservative and Liberal Democrat rivals.

Just before the May 3rd elections, Rowntree posted a clip on the video-sharing YouTube Web site saying the campaign had been "good fun."

"I have really enjoyed it and I have learnt a lot," he added before voters in central London’s Marylebone High Street ward put an end to his first foray into politics.
