Lou Pearlman Still Missing

Lou Pearlman remains at large months after the FBI and several other agencies raided his residence and business in connection with an alleged Ponzi scheme.

The Florida Office of Financial Regulation, which initiated the investigation, has been unable to contact Pearlman, the svengali-like figure behind Backstreet Boys and ’N Sync, since he left the U.S. in January, according to ABCNews.com.

Investigators say Pearlman was selling phony securities through his company, Trans Continental Airlines, swindling investors out of $317 million and banks out of an additional $150 million.

Pearlman assured investors an "employee investment savings account" was insured through the FDIC and insurance brokers AIG and Lloyd’s of London.

Authorities say instead of investing the money, Pearlman used it to shore up his more than 100 other companies and to live a lavish lifestyle.

Pearlman was last seen in February in a Berlin theatre where his latest boy band, US5, received an award – just days before a Florida judge appointed a receiver over Trans Continental’s remaining assets, and weeks before the raid on the company’s offices.
