Bands Across America
Two television shows focusing on taking an unsigned band to the top are in the works.
NGM Entertainment and Once In A Lifetime Productions are producing "Band America," and judges include former Moody Blues and Wings member Denny Laine and former Badfinger member Joey Molland, according to a statement from NGM.
The company said negotiations are under way for guests such as David Gilmour, Alan Parsons and Bryan Ferry.
The show apparently has some serious competition. The producers of "American Idol" – 19 Entertainment and FreemantleMedia North America – recently announced the launch of a series tentatively named "The Search for the Next Great American Band."
As yet, there is no timetable for the series.
