Floyd Say Farewell To Syd
Nick Mason, Rick Wright, Roger Waters and David Gilmour appeared at a May 10th concert to say farewell to the late Syd Barrett, but the London Barbican Centre was disappointed if it expected a full Pink Floyd reunion.
Waters and Gilmour, who have been at odds since the ’80s, didn’t appear on stage together. Gilmour played a short solo set.
At the end, all the performers except Waters appeared on stage together to play "Bike," a track from the band’s 1967 The Piper At The Gates of Dawn album.
Among the other stars who played songs in tribute to the former Pink Floyd founder, who quit the band a year after the band’s debut to live as a recluse in his home city of Cambridge, were Damon Albarn, Chrissie Hynde and Robyn Hitchcock.
Barrett died last July, aged 60, having turned his back on his music career and shunning the business for nearly 40 years.
