The six-week tour kicks off August 31 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., and will hit 17 cities around the country, including Boston, New York, Miami, San Antonio, Phoenix, Fresno, Calif., and Dallas.

Fans who pre-order The Cartel through iTunes before June 4 will be eligible for pre-sale tickets for all shows through Ticketmaster.

The album, which is set to drop June 5, features appearances by Fergie and Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas, The Pussycat Dolls‘ Nicole Scherzinger, and Akon.

Although DY hasn’t released a new album since 2004’s Barrio Fino, he’s certainly kept busy. In 2005, he toured extensively in support of Barrio and appeared in the film “Talento de Barrio.”

Last year he teamed up with Reebok to create a line of shoes and sports apparel and launched his own clothing line, DY. And earlier this year, he was named by Time magazine as one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
