Promoter Sues Guzman

Mexican singer Alejandra Guzman and Esparza Entertainment face a $500,000 lawsuit on behalf of a Los Angeles promoter that claims the singer bailed out of a June 16th concert commitment.

The suit, filed May 18th by Regional Music Inc., says the 2007 Latin Grammy winner backed out of performing at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena in Southern California after Regional Music paid Julio Esparza of Houston-based Esparza Entertainment a deposit of more than $28,000.

Esparza allegedly called the deal off May 15th.

Regional also claims it paid $120,000 for ads, tickets, hotels and other costs, and still owes for other performers also on the bill and for renting the arena.

The suit, claiming fraud, breach of contract and unjust enrichment, is seeking compensatory damages of at least $500,000.
