Bill Cherry Dies

William "Bill" Cherry, 71, founder of the National Association of Black Promoters, died May 24th at his home in Durham, N.C.

The promoter and civil rights activist was the vice president of Richard Pryor Enterprises and worked with Pryor as his road manager.

Cherry also had an extensive background in publicity and produced a documentary on gospel great Kirk Franklin.

He had planned to attend the 2007 Concert Industry Consortium as a panelist but had to cancel.
