Himmelman’s tour gets rolling July 17 at Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, Md., and so far is scheduled to make 14 stops, including July 19 at World CafĂ© Live in Philadelphia, July 25 at Seattle’s Triple Door, August 3 and 5 at Kidzapalooza during Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park and August 19 at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, Colo.

Pigeons, which hits the street August 21, is the singer’s 10th studio release. Himmelman is backed on the disc by a band that includes Willie Aron, Brett Simons, Jeff Babko, George Shelby, Jimmy Englund, Lee Jaffee, and Israeli musician Daniel K. Man.

The album comes with a DVD containing a feature-length documentary, “Rock God,” which traces Himmelman’s career from his start in the early ’80s with the pop-rock outfit Sussman Lawrence and chronicles the tour for his 2005 album, Imperfect World.

In addition to releasing solo material since his 1986 debut, This Father’s Day, Himmelman has scored award-winning music for TV shows, including “Judging Amy,” “Men In Trees,” “Bones,” and “Heartland,” and recently released his fourth recording for children, My Green Kite.
