Prince’s Slumber Mystery

Newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic have reported that Prince will sleep in a tent during his upcoming London shows, although it’s not easy to establish whether the story is accurate.

The diminutive singer is said to have requested a luxury camping area to be built inside the O2 Arena, where he starts a seven-night run on August 1st. But Sarah Aspinall from The Outside Organisation, which handles press for venue operators Anschutz Entertainment Group, appears to be in the dark on this one. She told Pollstar she would call back when she gets the info from AEG.

The Sun and the New York Post said Prince wants to stay very close to his concert venues and thinks a marquee-style living space would be perfect and very comfortable.

It was described as "the most extravagant tent that has ever been built," and will apparently house luxury bathrooms, kitchens and huge living areas as well as living facilities for staff.

Prince, who has already sold out 15 O2 Arena shows, announced a further six on June 11th. The new dates are August 24-25, and September 6th, 16th, 20th and 21st.
