Raining On Pieroni’s Parade

Heavy rain throughout the first day meant Andrea Pieroni’s Gods Of Metal Festival in Italy only managed to do 20,000 people over the June 2-3 weekend.

"The festival always has a good walk-up and the weather cost us that year," Pieroni told Pollstar. "The numbers weren’t so good that I want to celebrate but neither were they so bad that I want to quit. I hope for better weather and more people when Ozzy Osbourne comes for the second leg on June 30."

This year’s Gods Of Metal was split into two events to help Pieroni get all the acts he wanted, and Osbourne’s appearance at the end of the month will see him supported by Korn, Megadeth, Black Label Society, Type O Negative, Sadist and Slowmotion Apocalypse.

Among the acts who got wet first time around were Motley Crue, Velvet Revolver, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Heaven And Hell, Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, White Lion and Tigertailz.
