Wolf Parade was formed when vocalist Spencer Krug, who’s also a member of Frog Eyes, Swan Lake and Sunset Rubdown, was called upon to open for Arcade Fire. Krug drafted Dan Boeckner and drummer Arlen Thompson, and the trio released a debut EP in 2003. Multi-instrumentalist Hadji Bakara joined in 2004 and ex-Hot Hot Heat guitarist Dante DeCaro followed in 2005.

The band was signed to Sub Pop Records in 2005, releasing first a self-titled EP, and then a full length album, Apologies to the Queen Mary, which was partly produced by Modest Mouse‘s Isaac Brock.
